I pulled an oracle card to give me guidance on what is on my mind. I got regret. It’s so true. I couldn’t sleep last night at all. I do have a lot of regret. I think about packing up my house and how it will be a reminder of all the wasted money in projects and hobbies. Regret in how I raised my children and made life choices.

I don’t want to live with regret. I just am not sure how to do better. Is regret expected in life?

  1. We’ve probably all made choices in the past that weren’t the best, but 0% of what we’ve done in the past can be changed now. I think the alternative to regret is reframing those same things as lessons we can learn to minimize the likelihood of making the same mistakes in the future.

  2. I think about my past decisions, and I know in my hardest of hearts that things would not have turned out the way I thought they even might. No chance for things to work out the way my head thinks they might have. But, that is an ongoing challenge.

  3. I believe it’s natural to have regrets about things; I struggle with this also. I think regret comes with self-awareness and compassion, because I can’t feel bad about things I’ve done to people or how I’ve behaved until I’m aware of what the effects were on others. It is counterproductive to try to fix the past, but I try to have a little more compassion for my younger self, and apologize to others when I can.

  4. If you think whatever choices or decision you took, it was best at that situation or time. Regret comes but one has to forgive oneself. No one can be perfect all the time. It’s natural.
